Hats off to the girls
Red hot Red Hat ladies brave the byways of Bellingham Maze
Buderim Weekly, 28 March 2007

A sea of red hats found their way through the Bellingham Maze last week.
The hats belonged to a group of 19 ladies from the Blackall Beauties and the Red Hot Revellers, Red Hat Society members from the range and from Beerwah.
"The Red Hat Society's Queen Margarite and Vice Queen Lady Di were spotted at the middle of the maze first, looking surprisingly regal, cool, calm and collected," Sophie Wrangell, Bellingham Maze owner said.
"What the rest of the group didn't know, was that they had secretly been led to the middle by a maze staff member.
"The remainder of the party eventually found their way to the middle, however some poor souls got much too lost and were seen coming out through the give-up gate.
"Four of the group were so hopelessly lost on their way out, that they had to be rescued.
"I know the maze pretty well so it only took me about a minute to find them.
"They were in fact getting close to finding their way out, but they took a left turn when they should have turned right."
The rest of the red hatted ladies who were comfortably seated in the tea house, cheered and clapped when the four temporarily lost souls joined them.
Then there were endless questions as to how they managed to get so lost.
"Fortunately the ladies had all had morning tea in the tea house before entering the maze," Sophie said.
The Red Hat society is a group of ladies over 50 who get together regularly.
